Our sympathies to the Rojas family. We were high school classmates at Concordia Prep in Bronxville, NY graduating in 1961. Concordia was a boys Lutheran school and most of us including Effie lived in a dorm and had our meals together. We were a close class of 40 students and made lifelong friends. (Although I pity the poor dorm proctors who had to put up with our shenanigans.) I can still envision Effie listening to and moving to the rhythm of our favorite NYC rock stations on the radio (no CDs or tape players then). Sometime his mother would bring home cooked food to share. We all appreciated Mrs. Rojas.
Effie was a good student, teammate, roommate, and friend. Those teenage years are most important. We are glad that Effie was part of it.

I had the great luxury of having parents that loved music. Because of that, I have quite an eclectic taste in music. Effrie was more present, during my upbringing, than my father, and he also had a hand in developing my taste in music. For years, I rode to school, with Efrain. On those drives, he would listen to Imus, in the morning. At that time, Imus played the oldies. I learned the lyrics to almost every song, and I would sing them. My "Favorite Uncle" was probably most responsible for me singing doowop, and joining choirs. Quack, Quack, Effrie.
