Obituary of William Weeden

William “Bill or Pops” Weeden of Tellico Plains, TN, formerly a long time resident in Orange County NY, passed away Saturday January 19, at Concordia Nursing Home in Loudon, TN.  He was 92.

 

The son of the late William & Florence Lemin Weeden, he was born October 15, 1926, in Greenville, NY.

 

He served in the Army during the end of WWII and during the Korean Conflict.  He was a farmer his whole life and worked at Ralph Score Feed & Grain in Walden NY.

 

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.  He was an avid gardener and grew the best tomatoes; played softball well into his 60s, loved watching sports and news.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Veronica “Roni” Bivens of Tellico Plains, TN, Marion “Marty” Howe (Walter) of Middletown, NY; his sons William “Woody” Weeden  of Tellico Plains, TN, Jeffrey Weeden (Genella) of Sweetwater, TN; 13 Grandchildren, 18 Great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Pearl Mae Weeden, his sons Thomas Weeden and Lawrence “Dutch” Weeden, his grandson Lawrence Weeden Jr, his parents and 12 siblings.

 

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2019 from 4-7pm, at Gridley Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY 12586.

 

A Funeral service will be Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 10:00 am at Gridley Horan Funeral Home; burial will be in Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
