Raymond Knox Leahey Obituary

Raymond Knox Leahey of Stone Ridge, NY, was called home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. He retired with a 40 year career in telecommunications. The son of John E. and Dorothy Keller Leahey, he was born on August 22, 1952 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 71 years old. He honorably served in the US Navy. Raymond was the widower of JoAnn Leahey.


Survivors are his sons: Raymond John Leahey and his wife, Kelly of Stone Ridge, and Thomas Leahey of Fayetteville, NC; daughter: Rosemary Tiernan and her husband, James of Newburgh; brothers: John Leahey and his wife, Gail of Knoxville, TN and Harry Leahey and his wife, Juilie or Ormond Beach, FL; sister, Evelyn Leahey of Ormond Beach, FL; grandchildren, Raymond James, Caleb, Jocelyn, Joseph and Angela; his brother-in-law, Sal Rubino of Washingtonville; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, JoAnn and his sister-in-law, Anna Rubino. Raymond was a family man who loved and adored his children and grandchildren. All the grandchildren called him Pop Pop.


A visitation will be held from 3-7 pm on Friday, Sept. 8th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, Sept. 9th at the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Walnut St., Walden, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Washingtonville, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Baldrick’s Foundation, 1333 So. Mayflower Avenue, Monrovia, CA 91016.
