Please share a memory of Dominick to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dominick J. (Mickey) Petrillo, Jr. age 76, entered into rest on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at his home in Bunnell, Florida. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, great grandfather, brother in-law, uncle, godfather, cousin, and devoted friend to many who loved and respected him. Mickey was born in Middletown, NY on December 12, 1945 to Dorothy J. (Quick) & Dominick Petrillo Sr. His early youth was spent growing up in Cornwall, NY with his parents and three younger sisters until 1960 when the family moved to Coldenham, NY. He attended Valley Central High School in Montgomery, NY until 1962. As a teen he most enjoyed hanging out with his cousins while working at his Uncle John’s dairy farm in Otisville, NY. He and sister Angie often spent time helping their Uncle Charlie with planting and harvesting crops at Charlie’s Farm Market in Newburgh, NY. In 1969 he was offered a position with Orange County Department of Parks, Recreation & Conservation. After several years of dedicated public service, he received many awards for his accomplishments and was promoted to Assistant Park Maintenance Supervisor which led to his 35 years of loyal service to the county. Most notable projects he contributed his talent and hard work to include Algonquin Park, Crestview Lake, Brick House Museum, D&H Canal Park, OC Farmer's Museum, Winding Hills Park & Winding Hills Golf Club, Warwick County Park, Hickory Hill Golf Course, Hill Hold Museum & most proudly the Thomas Bull Memorial Park & Orange County Arboretum which is home to the 9/11 Memorial Garden and Walkway. He spent most of his adult life in Warwick, NY with his wife and children. After several years of vacationing and attending Bike Week in Florida, he decided it was time to retire and make Bunnell, FL his forever home. This is where he enjoyed riding his Harley, fishing, boating, gardening, puttering around in his workshop, and spending time with his kids, grands, great grands, friends and family whom he loved dearly. He had an infectious smile and the bluest eyes that would light up the darkest room. For whatever reason, Mickey was always there to lend a hand to his family & friends when they needed help. Mickey is survived by wife Janice Petrillo; five children: Charles Petrillo, Dominick J. Petrillo III, Nicole Petrillo Salcedo, Joseph Petrillo, and Anthony M. Petrillo; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, three sisters Angelina M. De Grote, Joan M. Borden, MaryLou Petrillo and many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved kitty cat Gracie. Fly high with the eagles Mick and all our angels who went before you until we meet again, you are loved and painfully missed. May you Rest in Eternal Paradise Koolbean. A Celebration of Life was held for family & friends at The Icehouse Saloon in Bunnell, FL on November 5, 2022. A Celebration of Life may be held for New York family and friends.
