Denise M. James, of Walden, NY, passed away at home on Friday, July 14, 2023. The daughter of Silvio Nicoli and Gertrude Davis Nicoli, she was born on May 27, 1954 in Maybrook, NY. She was 69 years old. She was a custodian at the Walden Elementary School for over 25 years.
She is survived by her husband, John James, of Walden; two sons: John James, Jr. of Newburgh and Shawn James of Walden; one daughter, Deana Bilyou (Garrett) of Walden; one grandson, Jeremy Patmore of Walden; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Silvio “Butch” Nicoli. In addition to her love of rescue animals, Denise loved vacationing with Michael and Carol Nicoli.
A visitation will be held from 4 pm – 8 pm on Friday, July 21st at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, July 22nd at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Route 52, Walden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden, NY 12586.
