So sorry for your loss !! Carmen We all adored you especially Peggy She was such a Mother hen around you and cared and took the BEST care of you!!I pray to God to help you all through this most difficult time I always enjoyed Carman telling his War stories when he was in the Service !! I like my brother Mike have memories of Carmen and the barbershop and working on the Tower Ave. house and stopping in. One of my last memories of Carmen was just that. I got to spend about half an hour or so with Carmen and Peggy sitting on their front porch and talking about Maybrook and families.
I remember a lot of crewcuts as kids, many of which were done by Carmen, and later Phil. Haircutting icons of Orange county.

Q: What will you never forget about Carmen?
A: Being second oldest meant I tagged along with dad (John) on weekends to help with repairs and painting at the house next door to the “Bungalow”. That would always of course mean a visit with Uncle Carmen, and sometimes a haircut.
I will never forget the big metal Apollo wall hanging (I believe it’s still there), the smells of hair tonic (which I often got doused with at the end of a haircut), and the unique sound of Uncle Carmen’s voice. He had is own way of sort of rolling R’s and L’s.
I haven’t had a haircut in Maybrook in probably 40 years, but it’s all so very familiar still.
