Ronald P. McKnight
May 29th, 1938-October 3rd, 2022
We are morning the death and celebrating the life of Ronald Paul McKnight, who passed away on October 3rd, 2022, in Knoxville Tennesse at the age of 84, closely following the home-going of his beloved wife, Mary, of 62 years. Born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, to Paul R. McKnight and Mary E. Reeder, he cultivated a love of fishing, hunting, gardening, and the outdoors. Serving in the United States Air Force and Department of Army, he enjoyed his career later in life as a Machine Operator Specialist at West Point Military Academy for several decades allowing him to provide care for his wife, Mary.
During his life, he also coached Little League, volunteered, and served as an elder at Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Montgomery, NY, where he and Mary raised their five children. He gave quietly to many causes and had an open heart to help others, with always a story to tell. His truest joy in the latter portion of his life, however, was spending time with his grandchildren and great-children, who continue to miss his child-like humor and love.
Survived by Mary McKnight Pry and Samuel McKnight, his previously departed siblings Janet McKnight Leister, Barry McKnight, and Robert McKnight..
Dearly loved missed by Ron's children, Carol A. Hansen, Mary McKnight Cummings, Christine McKnight, Fred Perna, Paul M. McKnight, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of their lives for Ron and Mary will take place at the Historic Lindsay-Pohlman Chapel in Montgomery, NY , Thursday, May 25th, 2023
