So very sorry….just coming across this information regarding Darla’s passing and it broke my heart. Heaven has gained a good one for sure. I suppose we all have moments where we could summon up good energy, humor and a kind spirit driven to help others but reading about how these qualities have been observed to be the embodiment of Darla’s very soul and being confirms the sweet girl I had the pleasure and fortune of being acquainted with some years ago. May she rest in eternal peace. My deepest condolences to Adam and family.

I am so sorry for your family's loss.
We have been stationed on West Point or near West Point for 21 years. Darla was always such a blessing to everyone in the commissary - you could always count on her smile and infectious positive attitude.
She will be greatly missed!

The first time I met Darla I thought to myself how can this little woman have so much energy, I always told her that I was going to remove her batteries. Darla was the type of person that if just met once you would not ever forget her, she was kind, caring and dedicated to her job at the West Point
commissary. She will truly be missed by all.

Darla enriched countless lives through her generosity and genuine concern for everybody she interacted with at the commissary. She always lit up the room with light and energy. I always enjoyed her spunk and quick-witted humor! We miss her dearly, and will be thinking of her and your family.

Q: How would you describe Darla to someone who had never met them?
A: Jim and I met Darla when we moved to Walden in 1998. I remember Darla so full of energy. She took time to talk and listen; she was a great listener. Very astute and quick to help; so very kind.
She adored Nick, Brett and Adam so much; her pride and joy.
Most of all, it was her laugh! Her laugh was so contagious; we will never forget Darla.
A little lady with a huge spirit.
God bless you Darla.

I’ve known Darla for six years. As a frazzled mom of young kids, she was a cheerful smile I could expect at the checkout line in the commissary. She knew when my husband was deployed, always asked about my kids, and even helped when my son split his chin open at the end of our shopping visit. It’s not often you come across people like her—she effervesced sincerity. I will miss her sparkle.

My family was stationed at West Point three different times between 1995 and 2012. Darla was one of the fixtures for us. She always remembered my name —even after we moved away and just came back for short visits. I know you will miss her terribly; what a wonderful person she was! She made an impact on the lives of everyone around her. Thanks for sharing her with us.

My family met Miss Darla at the West Point Commissary. She treated my five children like they were her own. She always found time to speak with us and give each kid a big hug. She would tell my son, Eli, that she loved him and he loved her right back. We will miss her smiles and hugs, but treat everyone like she treated us - like family.

Sending love, hugs and our deepest condolences to Dar's family, friends and community members that loved her dearly. I met Dar about 22-23 years ago via my friendship with her sister Debbie/kids. We always had fun when Dar came out to visit MN/WI. Last year, my sister Angela met Dar at Taylor's wedding. We all had an opportunity to tour Prince's Paisley Park & laugh while riding in a 4/5 person bike buggy ( with 2 steering wheels) !Dar, you will be truly missed!❤️ Dar's love for family, friends and community members will live in their hearts for ever. Love Tammy and Angela McLemore
