Richard L. Jansen of Walden, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. The son of Oscar Richard and Hazel Dangerfield Jansen, he was born on March 12, 1944 in Nyack, NY. He was 78 years old. Richard was employed for 30 years as a pharmacist at the Thruway Pharmacy, Walden, and 20 years at the Walmart Pharmacy in Newburgh.
Richard was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, the Wallkill Masonic Lodge
#627, Walden, a member and past president of the Valley Central School Board, a Trustee of the Walden Savings Bank, and a member of the Walden Rotary.
Survivors are his wife, Paula Adams Jansen at home; son, Darren Jansen of Alabama; daughters: Meredith Jansen of Alabama, Kathy MacLaren (David) of Alabama, and Tracey Guerrero (Jason) of Texas; sister, Jean Sparks (George) of Cobleskill; grandchildren: Nathan (Maggie), Caleb (Zesha), Joshua, Louis, Timothy, Jake, Emily, Grace, Jett, Olivia and Sean; great grandchildren, Christine and Jeremiah, nieces and nephews.
Cremation was at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Montgomery Food Pantry, PO Box 423, Montgomery, NY 12549.
