Eileen and I worked together for many years at Downstate. She was a wonderful, hard-working woman whose hearty laugh I remember well.
She often would take younger staff under her wing when they were experiencing rough patches in their lives. Her advice boiled down to perseverance, patience and kindness being the solutions to most problems.
Occasionally, she would bring in samples of her cooking. Wow!
My sympathies are extended to Eileen’s family. She was a great lady.
