Obituary of Albert V Meyer

Albert V. Meyer of Wallkill, NY passed away a home on Sunday, June 5, 2022. The son of Albert William and Elsie Josephine Szucs Meyer, He was born on March 30, 1938. He was 84 years old. Al was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and a Vestry member. He was a 62 year member of the Shawangunk Valley Fire Co. and a Fire Commissioner; a former Shawangunk Councilman and a former Ulster County Legislator, as well as an Assistant Boy Scout Leader of Troop 7T9. Survivors are his wife, Virginia E. Wood Meyer at home; daughter, Candice Leavitt of Plattekill; son, Duane Meyer and his wife, Diane, of Tenn; daughter-in-law, Barbara Meyer; grandchildren, Blake, Gabrielle, Madison, Cole, Jack, Reese and Jake; great grandson, Bentley; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Keith. A visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, June 8th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, June 9th at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 15 Walnut St., Walden, NY. Burial will be in the Bruynswick Rural Cemetery, Wallkill, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or the Shawangunk Valley Fire Company, 2150 Bruyns Road Wallkill, NY 12589.
