Leila E. “Lee” Ronk of Walden, NY passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017at Montgomery Nursing Home, Montgomery, NY. The daughter of the late Henry and Eleanor Horr Hamel, she was born on December 20, 1929 in Town of Esopus, NY. She was 87 years old. She was the widow of the late Bernie Ronk.
Lee was employed as a postal clerk for the Walden Post Office and a former member of the Blue Knights. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Montgomery Nursing Home.
Survivors are her sons: Stephen Galloway and his wife, Flo of Montgomery and Michael Galloway of Connecticut; brother, Dave Hamel; grandchildren: Chris, Matt, Bryan, Tara, Mariah, Veronica and Cameron; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, James Galloway.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, March 7th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, March 8th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Alzheimer’s Assoc.
