Margaret J. Griffin of Wallkill, NY passed away at home on Wednesday, March 23, 2022. The daughter of Henry and Nancy Cole Byrd, she was born on September 30, 1937. She was 84 years old. She was the widow of the late Rex Griffin. Margaret was a retired welder for Pierce Industries, Walden, NY and a member of the Freedom Road Bible Church. Margaret is survived by her life partner of more than 50 years, Walter J. Sutton; sons: Lenwood “Bud” Griffin of Pine Bush, Allen Ray Griffin of Wallkill, Tommy G. Griffin (Ann Brieger) of Wallkill, and Charles W. Griffin of Greenwood Lake; step daughter, Shari Conover and her husband, Scott, of Brooktondale, NY; brothers: Dick Byrd of Beulaville, NC and Harold Byrd of Pink Hill, NC; sisters: Peggy Williams of Portsmouth, VA, Jean Cole of Beulaville, NC, and Hilda King of Pink Hill, NC; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Morris and Billy Byrd; sisters, Doris Williams and Iris Sanderson; and grandchildren, Anthony "A.J." Rhodes, Lenwood “Buddy” Griffin II, and Thomas Griffin. A visitation will be held from 12-1 PM on Saturday, April 30th at the Freedom Road Bible Church, Route 52, Walden, NY. A funeral service at the church will follow at 1 PM. Cremation was at the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place; Memphis TN 38105.
