Mary J. Ferguson of Wallkill, NY passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones, at Garnet Health Medical Center, Town of Wallkill, NY. The daughter of the late David and Isabel Kopaskie Nelson, she was born on April 18, 1947 in Newburgh, NY. She was 74 years old. She was retired from Key Bank, Wallkill, NY. She was also a member of the Quilting Group at the Wallkill Public Library. Mary is survived by her husband, Charles, at home; her beloved daughter, Mary Lee Ferguson, of Harrisburg, PA; step daughter, Dora Lee DeZago, of Catskill, NY; brothers: David Nelson, of Connecticut, Thomas Nelson, of Marlboro, James “Mike” Nelson, of Rock Tavern, and John Nelson, of Walden; sisters: Joan Conklin, of Baldwinsville; and Janice Caparaso, of Wallkill; numeous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers: Robert, Richard, and William Nelson and sister, Deborah Monteverdi. The family would like to thank the staff at Garnet Health Center. A visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Saturday, March 26th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held at 7 pm at the funeral home following the visitation. Cremation was in the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Walden, NY 12586.
