Anthony ¨Tony¨ James Raia, of Maybrook, NY passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on February 11, 2022. He was 81 years old. He was born to Vincent Raia and Virginia Bickhardt on January 6, 1941 in Englewood, NJ. He was a laborer for the local union in New Jersey. Tony served his country in the US Army. He was a member of the Maybrook Fire Department for over 40 yrs. serving as Fire Police for many of them. Tony loved to sketch and draw and was extremely talented. He will be missed by his family and friends. Tony is survived by his son, Frank Raia (Cathy) of Wallkill; daughters, Tracy Raia (Charlie Knapp) of Maybrook and Maria Detoro (John) of Maybrook; brother, James ¨Jimmy¨ Raia of NJ; sisters, Lynn DeCarlo (Frank) of NJ and Fran Braca (Don) of NJ; grandchildren, Alex, Andrew and Gianna Raia; several nieces and nephews. Tony is predeceased by his parents and his beloved wife Cathie. Memorial contributions may be made to St Jude Childrenś Hospital or Maybrook Engine Company #1, 204 Wallace Ave. Maybrook, NY 12543. Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2022 from 2- 7 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday February 17, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 89 Union St. Montgomery NY 12549. Cremation Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY Arrangements are entrusted to the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586 (845) 778-3811.
