Edward A. Popiel of Walden, NY passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Calvary Hospice, Bronx, NY. The son of the late Edward and Anna Puchalski Popiel, he was born on November 27, 1926 in Wallkill, NY. He was comptroller for Spence Engineering, Walden, NY. Edward was a former member of the Democrat Club, former member of the Lions Club and bowling leagues. He was an active lay person at the Church of the Most Precious Blood and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also had his own band playing the saxophone and clarinet.
Survivors are his wife, Janet Cagney Popiel of Walden; son, Edward J. Popiel and his wife, Ramona of Cincinnati, OH; daughter, Maryann J. Popiel, MD of New York City; sister, Victoria Worden of Walden; grandchildren, Alec and Emerson, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Julia.
A visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, March 9th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, March 10th at the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Walden. Entombment will be in the Cedar Hill Mausoleum, Newburgh.
