Thomas W. Gilbert, age 62 of Wallkill, NY passed away on February 1, 2021 at home with his loved ones by his side. The son of Thomas William and Wilma Ann Tucker Gilbert, he was born on February 28, 1958 in Newburgh, NY.
Thomas had retired from the Highway Department for the Ulster County DPW in Wallkill, NY. In his earlier years, he was a volunteer fireman with the Shawangunk Valley Fire Department. Thomas was currently a member of the Reformed Church of Shawangunk, the Wallkill Rod & Gun Club and the Shawangunk Snowmobile Rescue Club. Besides hunting and racing, he loved spending time with his daughter and friends snowmobiling and 4-wheeling.
Survivors include: his daughter, Kristen Gilbert, his mother, Wilma Gilbert, and sister, Teresa Gilbert-Hyatt, all residing in Wallkill NY, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas was predeceased by his father, Thomas William Gilbert.
Cremation was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, NY. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made in Thomas’s memory to the Reformed Church of Shawangunk, 1166 Hoagerburgh Road, Wallkill NY 12589.
