Marie T. Hadden, a lifelong resident to the area, passed away at home on Sunday, April 23, 2017. The daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Casey Barry, she was born on February 12, 1929 in Newburgh, NY. She was 88 years old. She was the widow of the late Raymond Hadden, who predeceased her in 2003 and to whom she was married for 54 years.
Marie was a retired secretary for the Pius XII Youth and Family Services, Middletown, NY. She was a graduate of Newburgh Free Academy and the Spencerian Business school, Newburgh. She formerly worked for the Village of
Walden for sixteen years as secretary to the Village Manager, Deputy Village Clerk and Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics. She was a member of the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Walden, M.P.B. Rosary Alter Society, Walden Seniors, and a lifetime member of the Colonel Bradley Hose Auxiliary.
Survivors are her son, Richard A. Hadden and his wife, Dara of Walden; grandchildren: Nicholas, Taylor, Matthew and Rebecca; great grandchild, Luci Hadden; nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Raymond, Marie is predeceased by her son, Stephen R. Hadden and brothers, Joseph, William and John Barry. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, May 5th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:30 PM on Saturday, May 6th at the Church of the Most Precious Blood, Walden. Burial of cremains will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery, NY.
