Edmond L. Leonard of Walden, NY, passed away on Friday, April 10th, 2020 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. He was 79.
The eldest son of the late Francis and Ruth (née Farmer) Leonard, he was born in Newburgh, NY on February 1st, 1941. Edmond was a member of the US Army Reserves, former shop steward in the Teamsters Local 707, and a former trustee for the Village of Walden.
Edmond was defined throughout his life by selflessness, love for his family, and service to the community. He loved nothing more than talking with family and friends, tinkering in the garage on one of his numerous projects, and riding his bicycle all over the Hudson Valley. Edmond’s ability to lend a helping hand was unparalleled. He was patient, quick-witted, and a loyal friend. Edmond was a staunch advocate of the Democratic party and served as chairman of the Town of Montgomery Democratic Committee. He will be deeply missed.
He is predeceased by his wife, Lavina Leonard, and survived by his three children: Kevin Fine of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, Mickel Maulik and her husband, Lee Maulik of Margaretville, NY, and Kimberly Leonard and her partner Daniel Szeli of Walden, NY; his beloved granddaughters: Gianna Fine, Kylee Leonard, Emma Mattice and husband Cody Mattice; beloved grandson, Patrick Szeli; and beloved great granddaughter Mia Mattice.
