Frederick Charles Ronk Jr., age 38 of Walden, NY passed away peacefully after a long, hard battle with cancer on January 20, 2020 at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx. The son of Reta Sutherland Bakas and the late Frederick Charles Ronk Sr., he was born on February 25, 1981 in Goshen, NY. Fred worked as a correctional officer for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Goshen, NY. He also worked as a dispatcher for the Walden Police Department. Fred was a pillar of strength to all and a devoted father to his loving children. He loved horror movies and was an avid Steelers fan. He will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor. Survivors include his wife, Ieda Ronk at home; children, Angelo and Ayla at home; parents, Reta and Gus Bakas of Walden, NY; aunt, Lola Nedwetzky of Walden, NY; cousin, Jimmy, DeNault of Monticello, NY; other loved ones including his mother-in-law, Victoria LaGattuta, aunts, uncles and cousins. A memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Monday, January 27th at the Maybrook Senior Center, 111 Schipps Ln. Maybrook, NY 12543. Services will begin immediately following the visitation at 8 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Fred’s family to be used at their discretion.
