Obituary of Sheila E. Paz

Please share a memory of Sheila to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Sheila Paz, 82 of Maybrook, NY passed away on February 2, 2019 at Orange Regional Medical Center with her family by her side after a brave fight against cancer. The daughter of Carl and Aileen (McCluskey) Richmond, she was born on July 3, 1936 in Newburgh, NY.

How do we describe Sheila to someone who has never met her? Exceptional beauty, lovely black hair, flattering makeup, and dressed perfectly for whatever the occasion.  She was glamorous and elegant to be sure.  She was never shy about sharing a story or pictures of her loving husband, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  The love and pride she felt for all of her family could never be challenged.  As gracious as she was eager to give voice to her wide-ranging views.  Sheila would never leave a gathering without thanking the host or saying goodbye to all that were there.  To meet her would be to remember her instantly.  Connecting with people brought Sheila happiness and she deeply enriched the lives of all those around her.

Sheila worked with her husband, Frank, at their business Empire Appraisal Service in Newburgh. She was an active member of the Maybrook Golden Links and Valley Central P.T.A., Antique & Art Society, and was a former chairperson of the March of Dimes.

Sheila leaves behind her loving husband of 63 years, Frank Paz. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, F. Bryan Paz and his wife, Marcia, of Montgomery, NY; daughters, Cynthia Benedict and her husband, Gary, of Wilmington, DE; Pamela Smith and her husband, Brian, of Slate Hill, NY; sister, Carolyn Pinckney and her husband, Richard, of Pine Bush, NY; grandchildren, Kristopher Benedict and wife Elysia, Kara  Anderson-Winchell and husband Aaron, Mira Paz, Leah Paz, Sarah Smith and Katelin Smith; great-grandchildren, Henry and Samuel; nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Sheila was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Loscalzo.  She will be greatly missed.

Cremation will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27th from 1-5pm at the Maybrook Senior Center.
