Joan A. Roerden-Wille of Montgomery, NY passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 in Simpsonville, SC. The daughter of the late George O. and Gwendolyn Hawkins Amos, she was born on January 22, 1932 in Flushing, NY. She was the widow of the late Charles E. Wille and Herbert Roerden.
Joan was retired from the Orange County Health Dept. after 30 years of service as a Registered Nurse. She was a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church, Montgomery, and a volunteer at the Montgomery Food Pantry and Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties. She was also a member of the Montgomery Historical Society, Silverados Senior Dance Group, and the Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her sons: Robert (Kass) of Mt Pleasant, SC; Michael (Alice) of Copiague, NY; Kevin (Toni) of Folly Beach, SC; Gary Roerden of Montgomery, NY; daughters: Gayle Baloga (Thomas) of Belmont, NC; Gwen Roerden-Rettoun (Adi) of Simpsonville, SC; daughter-in-law Marlene Roerden of Warwick, NY; step daughter, Susanne Wasson (Randy) of Montgomery, NY; brother, Peter Amos (Rose) of Hudson,FL; brother -in-law, Chris Roerden (Hilda) of New Hyde Park, NY; sisters-in-law, Agnes Amos of St. Petersburg, FL and Marret Salg (Bob) of Huntington Station, NY ; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Amos.
She was loving and generous, an inspiration and a true friend. She loved food, dance, travel, and her family most of all.
A memorial service will be held at 5 PM on Sunday, September 17th at the First Presbyterian Church, Clinton Street, Montgomery, NY.
