George E. Snyder, age 87, of Campbell Hall, NY passed away on March 28, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, NY with his family by his side. The son of the late Clarence and Lena Bailey Snyder, he was born on November 11, 1930 in Hudson, NY. George worked as a Clerk for Grand Union in Monroe, NY. He leaves behind his loving wife, Annie Ryan Snyder, at home. George was active in the Hamptonburgh community, specifically, the Otterkill Engine Co. where he was past President, Commissioner, and began and taught the first aid program. Additionally, he volunteered as a Boy Scout leader in Campbell Hall and delivered meals to senior citizens in the area. He was a member of the Golden Links Seniors in Maybrook and was part of the Hamptonburgh Senior Citizen’s Club. He will be dearly missed by all. The family wishes to extend great thanks to everyone for their love and care for George at the Campbell Hall Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. You were all so great to George. In addition to his wife, George is survived by his son, Michael Snyder and his wife, Edwina, of Campbell Hall; daughters, Georgette Burrill and her husband, Hadley, of Maine, Lucy Ann Clemmer and her husband, Eugene, of Middletown; brother, Earl Snyder and his wife, Nancy, of Maybrook; grandchildren, Michael, Hadley, Amanda, Matthew and Russell; great-grandchildren, Nikki Lynn, Alyssa, Alexa, Lila Annie, Michael Jr., and one on the way. A visitation will be held on Monday, April 2nd from 3-8PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586. Firematic services will begin at 7PM during the visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at Holy Name of Mary-Assumption Church, 211 Homestead Avenue Maybrook, NY 12543, at 10AM on Tuesday, April 3rd. Burial will be in Hamptonburgh Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in George’s name to the Montgomery Food Panty.
