Myron L. DeGroodt Jr, of Clintondale, formerly of Wallkill, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Vassar Brothers Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY. The son of Myron L. and Leona DeGroodt Sr., he was born on April 28, 1935 in Walden, NY. Myron was the owner of Wallkill Paving Co., Wallkill, NY.
Myron is survived by his longtime companion, Kathleen Alvaro of Clintondale, a son, Myron Paul DeGroodt and his wife Betteanne of Wallkill, two daughters, Ronda Schoonmaker and her husband Raymond of Wallkill, and Kathy Litts and her husband Les of Port Ewen. He is also survived by brothers: LeRoy DeGroodt and Edward DeGroodt, both of Walden, Joseph DeGroodt of Wallkill and Thomas DeGroodt of Montgomery: sisters Katherine Wood and Helen Schoonmaker, both of Walden: twelve grandchildren: six great grandchildren: nieces and nephews. Additional family members include Nancy Alvaro, Mark Alvaro, John David Alvaro and Dean Alvaro. He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Paul Litts and a granddaughter, Rosemarie Winters.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 12 from 7-9 pm at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 13 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial was in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden.
