Obituary of August R. DeBates

August R. “Augie” DeBates of Pine Bush, NY, formerly of Walden, NY passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Town of Wallkill, NY. The son of August and Dora Coy DeBates, he was born on August 26,1934 in Walden, NY. He was 83 years old. He was an Air Force veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired fork lift operator for K & H Corrugated, Walden, NY and a former member of the Col. Bradley Hose Co. of the Walden Fire Dept. Augie is survived by his wife, Anne Marie Felten DeBates at home; sons: Mark Merring (Eileen) of Hubert, NC; Raymond Merring (Kathy) of San Antonio, TX; Ryan Merring (Jennifer) of Keystone Heights, FL; Robert McNeely of Walden; daughters: Debbie Henry (Norman) of Walden and Tracey Rankin (Michael) of Wurtsboro; several sisters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles DeBates and sister, Barbara Perna. A visitation will be held from 5-7:30 pm on Friday, June 29th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:30 pm at the funeral home. Cremation was in the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh.
