Kathryn M. “Kay” Sherman a longtime resident of Montgomery, NY passed away on November 13, 2012 at home. She was 82 yrs. old. She was born on January 18, 1930 to Louis and Sarah Smith Murphy in the Bronx, NY. She was the widow of the late Harry A. Sherman. After receiving her degree from New Paltz, Kay taught in a one room school house at Orange Lake. She eventually became a kindergarten teacher for the Montgomery Elementary School. Kay was a dedicated parishioner of The First Reformed Church of Walden as well as being involved with the Montgomery Food Pantry, where she actively delivered meals on wheels. Kay loved traveling and seeing the world. She is survived by her two daughters, Renee Schmidt and husband Joe of Montgomery, Jill Upchurch and husband Jay of Montgomery, five grandchildren, Jason Upchurch and wife Lani, Ryan Schmidt and wife Katie, Laure Williams and husband David, Jayme Flynn and husband Joe, Joshua Upchurch and fiancé Karen, Great grandchildren, Olivia, Layla, Stanley and Jack, nieces and nephews, cousin Harriet Kissel and longtime friend Theresa Purcell She was predeceased by her sister Lois Pitt Memorial Services will be held on Sunday November 18, 2012 at 2pm at the First Reformed Church of Walden. 70 Scofield Street Walden, NY 12586 Memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery Food Pantry
