William B. Phillips III passed away on January 7, 2013 at Vassar Bros. Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 94. The son of William B. Phillips Jr. and Inez Saunders, he was born on October 10, 1918 in Wallkill, NY. William served his country in the United States Coast Guard and U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a proud member of the American Legion for many years. After retiring from the Wallkill Valley Corrections Facility, William enjoyed helping his community by delivering Meals on Wheels for over 20 yrs. William is survived by his daughter Donna Overfield and husband Robert of Wallkill, NY, three grandchildren, Carrie Overfield and husband Walter of Wallkill, NY, Ryan Overfield and wife Koty of St. Petersburg Fl, and Holly Aitchison and husband John of Limerick, PA, three great grandchildren, Brandon, Kyle and Liam, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife Ellanor Holsappe Phillips and step-brother Douglas O’Neill. Visitation will be held on January 11, 2013 at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Funeral Services will held on January 12, 2013 at 10 am at the funeral home Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery Walden, NY Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 11 Marshall Rd Ste 1H Wappingers Falls, NY 12590
