Frank R. Amodio a longtime resident of the area passed away on February 15, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 84 yrs. old. He was born on April 12, 1928 to Rosario and Rose Vano Amodio in Maybrook, NY. He was married to Ann Savino Amodio. Frank R. Amodio enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1946 and served on the USSN Essex at the end of WWII. He was reactivated by the Navy for the Korean War and served on the USSN Bronson. He returned to Maybrook and married Gertrude Hollis and had two children. Over the next several decades, Frank was a NYS Trooper, a railroad brakeman, a US Post Master and lastly retired from the operating Engineers Local 825. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Village of Maybrook Fire Dept. obtaining the honor of becoming President and later chief. Frank was also a member of the Maybrook VFW Post # 2064 and the American Legion. Frank was a loving and devoted husband and father. He married Ann Kitzis in 1978. He enjoyed working outside and was amazingly skilled at working on small engines and cars, much to the delight of all his family and friends whom he helped frequently. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Ann at home, son Frank R. Amodio II and wife Charmaine of Maybrook, NY, daughter Lynn M. Orcutt and husband John of Poughkeepsie, NY, brother John Amodio of Maybrook, Grandson John G. Orcutt II and wife Amanda of New Paltz, several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his first wife Gertrude Hollis Amodio, step-son Michael Lemise, grandson Matthew Orcutt, one brother and two sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Maybrook VFW Dusenberry-Flannery Post # 2064 209 Main St Maybrook, NY 12543 or the Maybrook Engine Co. #1 204 Wallace Ave. Maybrook, NY 12543-0308, Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday February 23, 2013 from 10 AM-12 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY, 12586. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday February 223, 2013 at 12 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home Cremation Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY Burial of ashes will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
