Virginia L. Quackenbush of the Town of Newburgh, NY, a homemaker and former registered nurse passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. She was 97 years old. The daughter of Ora P. and Margaret Heller Miller, she was born on March 2, 1916 in Chicago, IL. Virginia spent her life in service of others, as a young nurse in Chicago, and later through her work at Africa Inland Mission and various church ministries. She is remembered for love of God and family. She was a member of the Leptondale Bible Church. Virginia was the widow of the late Charles C. Quackenbush. Surviving are two sons: William C. Quackenbush and his wife, Robin of the Town of Newburgh and Robert W. Quackenbush and his wife, Diana of Blythewood, SC; a brother Ora Miller, Jr. of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; five grandchildren: Bethany Davis and her husband Ray, of Wisconsin, Melissa Wilsey, and her husband Chase of South Carolina, Annie Barnett, and her husband Ted, of New York, Robert Quackenbush and his wife, Genie, of Florida, and Sarah Anderson, and her husband Brandon, of New York, as well as fifteen great-grandchildren, soon to be seventeen. fifteen great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Ward Miller and her granddaughter, Jeannie. Graveside services will be held today, August 23, 2013 at 11 AM at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden.
