Louis Montanaro of Walden, NY passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, NY. The son of Michael and Saveria “Vera” Peppitone Montanaro, he was born on May 19, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY. He was 73 years old. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Maybrook VFW.
Louis is survived by his son, Robert Vergona (Pam) of Texas; daughters: Marion Cotter (Robert) of Ohio and Jennifer Vergona (Mike Ford) of Walden; sister, Diana VanHorn of Florida;13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Carmine and sisters, Josephine, Patricia and Anna.
A visitation will be held from 3-6 PM on Saturday, August 18th at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Cremation will be in the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to a local veterans’ organization of your choice.
