Kenneth G. Petzold of Maybrook, NY passed away on Tuesday, October, 29, 2013 at home. The son of Rudolph and Edith Shipman Petzold, he was born on June 21, 1936 in Maybrook. He was 77 years old. He was employed by National Cash Register for 40 years, working as a field engineer before his retirement. Ken was very active in his community. He served as the Village Justice for 32 years, a Village police officer for 12 years, a Life Member of the Maybrook Fire Dept. having served for 55 years, as well as serving as Commissioner of the fire department, and a member of the Maybrook Seniors. His hobbies were woodworking, cooking, shooting and mostly spending time with his family. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Jeffrey Stewart and his staff and to Terri and all the staff of Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties for their excellent care and compassion shown to Ken and our family. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Roberta “Roby” J. Conklin Petzold at home; two sons: Blaine Petzold and his wife Pat and Brian Petzold and his wife Virginia both of Maybrook; daughter, Lori Marshall and her husband, Larry of Montgomery,; sister, Linda Croce of New Windsor; six grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, an uncle, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 31 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Firematic services will be held at 7:30 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 1 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct., Newburgh, NY 12550 or the Maybrook Fire Dept.
