James T. Miller, Sr. of Montgomery, NY, a retired employee of IBM and longtime resident, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Middletown, NY. He was 70 years old. The son of the late Edward and Gertrude Conroy Miller, he was born of October 16, 1943 in Middletown, NY. James was a member of the Montgomery Fire Dept. – Fleet Hook & Ladder Co. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff, nurses and doctors at Orange Region Medical Center for the warm and compassionate care they provided. Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Margaret Hess Miller at home; two daughters: Colleen Vargo and her husband, Matt and Tammy Conroy and her husband, Joe both of Montgomery; two sons: James Miller, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Montgomery and Edward Miller and his wife, Kristy of Maybrook. He is also survived by two sisters, Gertrude Green and Darlene Andolsek both of Montgomery; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Michael, two brothers, Jerry and Edward and sister, Alice. A time of gathering will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 from 1 – 5 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Cremation will be in the Cedar Hill Crematory, Newburgh. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
