Gertrude E. Lown of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Maybrook, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in Boynton Beach. She was the daughter of Clinton and Vera Eckert, and the cherished wife of the late Edward Lown. Gertrude was a registered nurse, Director of Nurses at Arden Hill Hospital, Goshen, a lifetime member of the Business and Professional Women’s Assoc., and the People’s Baptist Church, Maybrook. She was a world traveler; Cuba in the 1950’s, Rome, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Israel, Korea, to name a few. Her last memorable trip was to Paris with her daughters, Holly and Tanya for her 75th birthday. Remember Mom, “You’ll always have Paris.” We love you. Survivors are her daughters, Holly Waters and her husband, Jim; Tanya Bethard and her husband, Richard; Grandson, Noah Bethard; Granddaughter Brittany Waters; Grandson Christopher Waters; great grandchildren, Jemma and Ian Waters; many cousins, nieces and nephews; friends far and near, especially Julia Barton. She was also the niece of Norman and Carrie Eckert. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 from 1-3 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY. Services will follow at 3 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
