Donald W. Bennett passed away on December 15, 2013 at Montgomery Nursing Home, Montgomery, NY. He was 90 years old. The son of the late Wilbur J. and Nancy Sturgis Bennett, he was born on December 24, 1922 in Walton, NY. He was married to the late Vivian Bennett.
Donald was a machinist for Spence Engineering. He served his country in the European Theatre during WWII in the United States Army. He was a member of the Freedom Road Bible Church, Walden NY and the International Association of Machinists.
He is survived by his son, David L. Bennett and his wife Dawn of Pine Bush; sister, Thelma Gillespie of Walden; grandchildren, Leslie Bennett and Elizabeth Weeden and husband, Scott, and his great grandson Anthony. He is also survived by his nephews, William Gillespie and his wife Linda and Mark Gillespie and his wife Sharon, and his niece, Shari Hulse and her husband David.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 18th from 7-9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY.
Services will be held on Thursday, December 19th at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Prospect Cemetery, Pine Bush, NY.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Road Bible Church, Route 52, Walden, NY 12586.
