Doris Romer a longtime resident of the area passed away on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, New York. She was 68 years old. The daughter of the late Charles and Edith Vradenburgh Scott, Doris was born on February 13, 1946 in New Windsor, NY. She was the widow of the late Douglas F. Romer Sr. Doris was a sewing machine operator and also worked at the customer service/package counter at the Thruway Market in Walden. She belong to the Bowling League in New Windsor. Doris was a selfless , loving and caring individual. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include her children Brian Romer and wife Karen of Iowa, Greg Romer and wife Tasha of Montgomery, Beth MacNear of Walden, Lisa Sowers and husband Ken of Marlboro, Douglas Romer and wife Dana of Newburgh, Terri Malonson and husband Allen of Texas, Kay Kelly and husband Kirk of Texas, Kathy Davenport and husband Rick of Texas, Brenda Butcher of Texas and Denise Cooper of Texas; sister Lillian Bell of Newburgh; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Douglas F. Romer Sr., brother James Melton and sister Patricia Henry. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 8, 2014 from 2-5 PM at Gridley-Horan Funeral Home 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586 Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 8, 2014 at 5 PM following the visitation. Cremation will be in Cedar Hill Crematory Burial of ashes will take place in spring. Friends may make contributions to The American Red Cross
