Obituary of David Arthur Salisbury

David Arthur Salisbury of Maybrook, NY, a true Renaissance man passed to eternal life on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence. He was a true friend, love, mentor and soul mate to his family, co-workers, and friends. The son of Leslie Denton Salisbury II and Ethel B. Browne Salisbury, he was born on August 2, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA. He was 76 years old.
He was part of the last graduating class of the Maybrook School, kindergarten to 12th grade. He was instrumental in starting the first Seder Service on board a naval ship during his naval service. He spent 10 years in the Republic of the Marshall Islands working for MIT and the US Government in reentry rocket physics. Dave completed his working career at IBM.
He was a life member of the VFW Post 2064, Maybrook, the NRA, Fallsburg Fishing & Boating Club and numerous organizations. Dave loved to read, discuss, fish and hunt along with the comradery they brought.
Survivors are his wife, Margaret McGrath Salisbury; daughter, Lisa Salisbury; step-son, Robert deCharleroy; granddaughter, Eva Rose deCharleroy; brother, Burt Salisbury; sisters-in-law, Janet and Annie Salisbury; nephews, Burt Salisbury and his wife, Teresa and son, Timmy and Eric Salisbury and his wife, Jen and daughters, Grace and Alana and niece, Robin Salisbury Dunn and daughter, Brooke. Dave was predeceased by his parents, brother, Leslie Denton Salisbury III and his sidekick, Pepper.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any “No kill animal shelter” or the Wounded Warriors Project.
