Obituary of Janice Gray Banker

Janice Gray Banker of Newburgh, NY, passed away at home on Thursday, June 19, 2014. The daughter of the late Roy E. and Genevieve Kilinski Gray, she was born on June 17, 1945 in Goshen, NY. She was 69 years old. She was the widow of Dennis C. Banker, who predeceased her in 1997. She was also predeceased by her brother, Roy L Gray. Originally from Warwick, NY, Janice graduated from Warwick High School and Orange County Community College. She recently retired from Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh. She and her husband spent 20 years as volunteers with the Newburgh Little League. She attended the Goodwill Presbyterian Church in Montgomery and the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rock Tavern. She leaves her son, Scott Banker and daughter-in-law Mary Allen; daughter, Melissa Kniffin and son-in-law Matthew; grandchildren, Scotty, Sarah Rose, and new baby Abram. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gerry Gray; nephew Douglas and his wife, Christina; niece Jennifer and grand nephews Michael. The family wished to thank Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties and Dr. Richard Diamond and his staff. Jan and her family were tremendously blessed by the wonderful skills and comfort of caregiver, Andrea Paul of Unlimited Care in her last days. A visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 6:30 – 9 PM at the Goodwill Presbyterian Church (historic building), Route 208, Montgomery, NY. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 23 at 10 AM at the church (historic building). Burial will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Goodwill Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties.
