Edward D. Hedin of Maybrook, NY, a former carpenter for the New Haven Railroad and retired from McBeth in Newburgh,NY, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Campbell Hall Nursing Home. The son of Harry and Eleanor Ronk Hedin, he was born on August 9, 1931 in Poughkeepsie, NY. Ed was a Korean War Army veteran, past District 2 Commander, past Orange County Commander, past Commander of the Maybrook VFW Post #2064, member of the Korean War Veterans Assoc., and the American Legion. Survivors are his nieces and nephews including Judy Cornish and Ron Moulton, Jr. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harry, Raymond, Elmer and Herbert and his sisters, Elinor Cornish, Grace Hedin, Dolores Vermilling and Mae Francabandiero. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 6 – 9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 27th at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maybrook VFW Post #2064 or the Maybrook Fire Dept.
