Obituary of Warren Donald Williams

Warren Donald Williams of Austin, Texas died on Thursday, September 25, 2014, one day before his 92nd birthday. He was born in New York City, NY on September 26, 1922. After graduating high school at Peekskill Military Academy, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1941. He completed armament and flight school, received his wings and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant. He then served as operations officer responsible for tactical fighter bases in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He separated in 1946 with a rank of Captain. He then served in the US Air Force Active Reserves in research and development until his retirement as Lt. Colonel in 1967. Warren and his family moved to the Town of Montgomery in 1962. He left in 1968 to work for Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX. He worked as a chemical engineering supervisor, retiring in 1985 to enjoy his passion for hunting, fishing, travel, photography and collecting. He was a member of the New Windsor American Legion Post #1796. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie and her husband, John Freeman of San Jacinto, CA; son Gregg and his wife, Lorraine Williams of New Windsor, NY; daughter, Susan Williams of Austin, TX; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 63 years in 2009, Charlotte Courtney Williams of Newburgh, NY Burial will be in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY with military honors. Services will be private.
