Roy D. Wynkoop of Walden, NY passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh, with this family at his side. Along with his wife, Anita, he was the owner of Flowers by Anita in Walden. The son of the late Roy and Arline Mae Cooley Wynkoop, he was born on December 5, 1939 in Wallkill, NY. He was 74 years old.
Roy was a US Navy veteran, member of the American Legion Post #158, former president of the Town of Montgomery Lions Club, former deputy mayor and trustee for the Village of Walden and a lover of all animals.
Survivors are his wife of 55 years, Anita C. Pettine Wynkoop at home; son, Todd Wynkoop of Fresno,CA; daughter, Tracey Moran her husband, Adm. Michael Moran of Ridgecrest, CA; brother, David Wynkoop and his wife, Chris of South Carolina; sister Joan Koonce of North Carolina; grandchildren, Michael,
Adam, Zachary and Tori Moran and Katie and Jacob Wynkoop; great grandson Anthony Moran and his mother, Jessica Heins; nieces and nephews, Scott, Dean and Pam, Brett, LouAnn, Shannon and James, John and their families; and cousins. He was predeceased by his niece, Tonia Sprance.
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th from 4 – 7 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10AM on Tuesday, October 14th at Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh, NY. Burial of his cremains will be in the Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walden Humane Society, Pets Alive in Middletown, NY or the Alzheimer’s Assoc.
