Donald J. Maloney was born on May 13, 1930 to the late Raymond (Luke) and Bertha Chagnon Maloney in Manhattan, NY. He lived in the Bronx for a good portion of his life. He was known to many as “Moe” or “Whitey”. In 1978 he moved to Montgomery, NY. He was an Army Korean Veteran. He was a member of Local 7 Tile, Marble and Terrazzo NY and NJ, Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers, and a member of William St. Social Club and Washington Heights Club. He always spoke his mind and had a great sense of humor. He had a love of gambling, particularly “craps”. He enjoyed going to Atlantic City and Connecticut to play. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Alicia Lee Maloney; sons, Jesse Maloney, James Maloney and wife Rosie; daughter Maureen Vetro and companion of 30 yrs, Mario D’Amato; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Marissa and Kristine Maloney, Antoinette Oakes and husband Bob, Jason Vetro; great grandchildren, Katie and Alex Oakes and Camren Poye-Vetro; his loving great nephew, Joshua Rice, who was also his care giver for the last 3 yrs.; his beloved brother-in-law Edward Dowd and wife Madelyn; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his sons Todd, John and Ronald Maloney and brother, Raymond Maloney. Visitation will be held on Tues. October 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY 12586. Funeral Services will be held on Wed. October 15th at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden, NY.
