Jack D. Barletta of Maybrook, NY, a presser in the garment industry, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical Center, Town of Wallkill, NY. The son of the late Francisco and Celestina Vacco Barletta, he was born on August 9, 1922 in Bari, Italy. He was 92 years old. He was the widower of the late Mamie Amodio Barletta. Jack was a WWII Army veteran and was awarded two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and various other medals. He was also a 25 year member of the Maybrook Engine Co.#1 Fire Police, A Village of Maybrook part time Police Officer, A Town of Montgomery part time Police Officer, past Post Commander and life member of the Maybrook VFW Post #2064 and a life member of D.A.V. Chapter 144, Castle Point. Survivors are his daughter, Donna Barletta of Maybrook; sons, Jack Barletta of Maybrook and David Barletta and his wife, Linda of Hopewell Jct.; brother Frank Barletta of Bonita Springs, FL; grandchildren, Lauren Paley, Ashley Barletta, Samantha Barletta, Daniel Barletta and granddog, Cosmo; and adopted family, Jim and Paula Balz and Michael, Chrissy and Amanda Balz. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jim and Joe Barletta, Cosimo Basile and sister, Grace Gozzi. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31st from, 4-7PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home,Inc.,39 Orchard St, Walden, NY. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 1st at the Church of the Assumption, Maybrook. Burial will be in the O. C. Veterans Cemetery, Goshen. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Assumption, the Hudson Valley Honors Flight or the Maybrook VFW Post #2064.
