Brendan Robert Bittner of Brooklyn, NY, formerly of Walden, passed away on February 13, 2015 due to complications from diabetes. He was 34 years old. He was born on July 25, 1980 to Robert and Annette Cornella Bittner in Newburgh, NY. Brendan loved to work with children. He was a school administrator for the Lang School in New York City. Brendan had an amazing sense of humor, a quick wit, and the ability to make people laugh and find the good in every situation. He is survived by his loving parents, Robert and Annette Bittner of Walden; sister, Jessica Markus and her husband, Benjamin “BJ” of Bronx, NY; brothers, Corey Bittner and his wife, Marcia of Wilmington, NC, and Evan Bittner of Walden, NY; as well as many friends and family. He was well-loved and will be missed dearly. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 18th, from 5-9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY 12586. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 19th at 11 AM at the First Reformed Church of Walden, 70 Scofield Street, Walden, NY 12586. Cremation and burial of Brendan’s ashes will be held privately. Brendan was an advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and actively supported this cause throughout his life. At the request of the family, please do not send flowers. Memorial contributions to the JDRF may be made in Brendan’s memory at www.jdrf.org.
