Obituary of Micah J. Lennon
Please share a memory of Micah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Micah J. Lennon entered eternity on February 27, 2015, far too soon. He was thirty-two. Micah is survived by his parents Jerry and Carol Lennon, of Walden; his older brother David with wife Faith and beloved nephews Connor and Grayson of Franklin, MA; his younger brother Joshua, of Philadelphia, PA; grandmother Pauline Griffin, of Walden; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins locally and in Virginia, North Carolina, and Missouri.
Micah was born at St. Luke’s hospital in Newburgh during a lunar eclipse, a fact that bemused him later in life. He possessed great intellect, unusual insight, and a rather challenging sense of humor; he left an undeniable impression on all who had the opportunity to know him. His father often told folks that Micah “marched to the beat of a different saxophone” – a “different drummer” was not a sufficient description.
Micah lived and worked in Carlisle, PA. Always tinkering with technology, he became a Quality Assurance Specialist for CenturyLink, Inc. He graduated from Chapel Field High School in Pine Bush in 2001, and attended Messiah College, obtaining his BA in Humanities concentrating in Philosophy and Bible in 2007. During this period, his passion for creating music flourished; he sang in choirs, worship teams and bands, and wrote songs reflecting his unique understanding of the world.
Micah suffered from bipolar disorder from his early teens and, at age twenty, was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. Keeping his sense of humor despite his illnesses, he would sarcastically remark that he had “won the genetic lottery”, but he persisted living the life he wanted.
Most importantly, Micah was a loving son, a warmhearted brother, and a caring uncle. Above all else, he will be remembered for his love and sensitivity to others. There were no more joyous times in the Lennon household than when the three boys were together talking, laughing, and sharing things that often went over Mom’s and Dad’s heads. His smile lit up our world!
Burial was conducted in a private service at Wallkill Valley Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church on Route 208 in Walden, Thursday, March 12 starting at 5:00pm followed by a Memorial Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Society for Bipolar Disorders (www.isbd.org) or Heifer International (www.heifer.org).
