Obituary of Frederick H. Kratz

Frederick H. Kratz passed away on March 8, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Newburgh, NY. He was 69 years old. He was born on December 30, 1945 to Frederick G. and Grace Van Horn Kratz in Staten Island, NY. He was married to Sandra L. Bush Kratz. Fred was a Fire Alarm Dispatcher for the City of New York for many years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Fred was the Quarter Master for the Dusenberry-Flannery Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2064. He was a member of the American Legion. Fred was also a member of the Church of the Holy Name of Mary, Montgomery, NY. He was very active in many veteran related events. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends Fred is survived by; father, Frederick G. Kratz (Yvonne) of Mt. Upton, NY; wife, Sandy L. Kratz at home; brother Thomas Kratz (Angela) of Staten Island; step-brothers, William Pair (Roseann) of Staten Island, Thomas “Tommy” Pair of Brielle, NJ; step-sisters Susan Vierno of Sherburne, NY, Janet Chzanowski (John) of Sommers NJ; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Velvet. He was predeceased by his mother Grace Kratz. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 11, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday March 12, 2015 at 10 AM at Holy Name of Mary Church, 89 Union St. Montgomery, NY Burial will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, Goshen, NY. In lieu of flowers friends may make contributions to the Dusenberry-Flannery Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2064.
