Joan Shurter passed away peacefully on March 11, 2015 at her home in Pine Bush, NY. She was 83 years old. She was born on May 15, 1931 to the late James and Dorothy Thom in Newburgh, NY. She was the wife of George H. Shurter Jr.
Joan was a dedicated homemaker for many years. She will be missed by her family.
Joan is survived by her husband George H. Shurter Jr. at home; her sons, George Shurter (Joanne) of Middletown, Wayne Shurter (Cheryl) of Walker Valley, Brian Shurter (Tammy) of FL.; daughter Debra Decker (Ken) of Pine Bush; brothers, Dave Thom (Brenda), James Thom (Carol); six grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday March 15, 2015 from 12 -2 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586.
In lieu of flowers friends may make contributions to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan.
