Marvin L. Evans of Maybrook N.Y. passed away on April 5, 2015 at his home. He was 75 years old. He was born on September 15, 1939 to Carl and Francis Moore Evans in Taylors, SC. Upon finishing high school in Taylors, he joined the US Air Force and eventually landed at Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh N.Y. It was here he met and married his wife of 55 years, Marguerite N. Citriniti Evans. Marvin loved this great community and got involved in it wholeheartedly and this wonderful community took him in as one of their own. He loved traveling in his RV, golfing, fishing and trips with his senior citizens group. Marvin was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Maybrook, N.Y., President of the Golden Links Senior Citizen Club Maybrook, NY, Past President of the Montgomery Kiwanis, Coach and President of the Maybrook Athletic Association including Little League. Marvin was a Utility Repairman for Ford Motor Co. in Mahwah, N.J. for over 21 yrs. He was Superintendant of Highways and Parks for the Village of Maybrook for over 20yrs. He was also a Tractor Trailer Driving Instructor for BOCES Adult Education for over 19 yrs. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Marvin is survived by his wife of 55 yrs. Marguerite Evans at home; son, Michael J. Evans (Kathleen Henry) of Rock Hill; mother and father, Francis and Carl Evans of Williston, SC; father-in-law George Gillespie of Maybrook; brothers, Kenneth Evans of Williston,SC, Ron Evans of Sylmar, CA; sisters, Martha Greene of Easely SC, Linda Holland of Woodstock, GA; sister-in-law, Norma Manning of Montgomery; sister-in-law, Cheryl Evans of Easely S.C, brother-in-law, Warren Sanders of Middletown N.Y.; aunts, Frieda, Faye and Gladys; uncle, Joe all of Greenville S.C. and several nieces and nephews. He pre-deceased by his bother Sam Evans. The family would like to give a special thank you to John and Eileen Lewis, Angel and Anna Negron, Renee DeVoe and family for their constant love and support. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 9, 2015 from 4-7 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, Inc. 39 Orchard St. Walden, NY 12586 A funeral service will be held on Friday April 10, 2015 at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery, N.Y. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Maybrook Fire Department in Marvin’s name.
