Marjorie O. Stratton, age 89, of Walden, NY entered in rest on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at the Schervier Pavilion in Warwick, NY. She was born of August 8, 1925 in Bridgeport, CT to the late William and Georgianna Dodge Ordner. She was a graduate of the Stratford High School and went on to work in the Stratford area where she met Harry L. Stratton, Jr., who was working in a Connecticut defense factory during World War II. They married on June 17, 1944 and eventually moved to her husband’s home town of Pine Bush, NY where they settled and remained for many years. Marjorie worked in the Pine Bush Tie Factory and also in the town clerk’s office. She was also involved in the Civil Air Patrol and was a Girl Scout leader. She was a member of the Freedom Road Bible Church in Walden and belonged to the Pythian Sisters. Marjorie loved horses and playing the guitar. She was an extremely talented seamstress and made beautiful western style shirts. She also made many beautiful afghans as gifts for her family and friends. She enjoyed crafts and would always stay busy working on a craft project. She is survived by her son, Harry L. Stratton, III (Roy) of Delta Junction, Alaska; a grandson, Erick Stratton of Anchorage, Alaska; two nieces, Barbara Ann Reynolds of Indiana and Dorcas Leonhardt of Grand Junction, Colorado; and a nephew, Robert Leonhardt and his wife, Jean of Pine Bush, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, her sister, Mildred Feuerbacher, a sister-in-law, Dorcas Leonhardt, and two half brothers, William and Cody Ordner. Friends may call on Wednesday, June3, 2015 from 6-8 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY. Services will follow at 8 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Freedom Road Bible Church.
