Lavina “Lee” Elizabeth Leonard of Walden, NY, a retired RN from the Dominican Sisters of Hope who was dedicated to her family, died in peace at home on Friday, July 17, 2015 of lung cancer, which she had battled for four years. She was 73. The daughter of the late Rhoda and William Bailey, she was born in Cornwall, NY on January 28, 1942. She was a registered nurse for over 40 years and her calling was truly caring for others. Lee was defined throughout her life by her kindness and courage but most especially for her love for her family.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Edmond Leonard; her children: Kevin Fine of Calabash, NC, Mickel Fine Maulik and her husband, Lee Maulik of Margaretville, NY, and Kimberly Leonard and her partner Daniel Szeli of Walden, NY; her beloved granddaughters: Gianna Fine, Kylee Leonard, Emma Goodrich; and beloved grandson, Patrick Szeli. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Devon Fine.
Friends will be received at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard Street, Walden, NY on Wednesday July 22nd from 6 – 8 PM. A service will follow at 8 PM officiated by the Rev. James Van Houten.
