Beloved Uncle John Giglio, a lifelong resident of Maybrook, NY, passed away on August 5, 2015 at ORMC, Town of Wallkill, NY. The son of the late Joseph and Adeline Capparelli Giglio, he was born on October 12, 1936 in Maybrook, NY. He was 78 years old. John retired from the NYS Dept. of Corrections, Warwick and lived an exuberant active life. He was an organist for Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, Montgomery, a member of the Monticello Harness Horsemen’s Assoc., USTA and Standard Bred owners, and the NYS Gaming Comm. John loved the art of harness racing, fine food, but especially his family and friends. Survivors are nieces: Lillian Reitz and her husband, Jim, and their children, Chelsea, Christopher and Cori of Huston, TX; Kathleen Aguele and her husband Lenny of FL.; nephews: George Curto and his wife, Jane of Brockton, MA, Dan Curto of Franklin Square, Joseph Giglio and companion, Liz of Walden; horse partner, Joanna Giglio of Walden; best friend of 45 years, Jerry Cefarello, and faithful dog, Mack. He was predeceased by brothers: Frank, Dominick, Patsy, and James, and sisters: Florence and Agatha. The family would like to give special thankstof Dr. Augusto Rosas and the team at Middletown Dialysis, who made a quality life, living, and the right connections all possible with compassion, professionalism and friendship, and to Father Dan O’Hare, our respected pastor and shepherd, who we thank for his support and laughter. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 7th from 6-8 PM at the Gridley-Horan Funeral Home, 39 Orchard St., Walden, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 8th at Holy Name of Mary R.C. Church, Montgomery, NY. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name of Mary Church, or Church of the Assumption, Maybrook, to perpetuate the spiritual presence in our communities.
